Nature and Scope of Role
This position is one of a number of roles reporting through to the Store Manager and thus forms part of the store team.
The Store Person/Sales Consultant person will understand, and ensure their performance reflects, Noel Leeming’s core values and Mission Statement.
Due to the nature of this store, the role is one where the responsibilities and duties of a Store Person are not required on a full time basis. This provides an opportunity for the job holder to also assist with sales as a Sales Consultant. The Store Person/Sales Consultant will be aware of the competitive and customer oriented nature of the work to be undertaken and will appreciate the necessity for maintaining and improving upon Noel Leeming and Noel Leeming Group Limited’s market position. The Company is committed to excellent customer service and to achieving its set targets.
The Company will support and train the Store Person/Sales Consultant to be able to achieve targets and in return, the Store Person/Sales Consultant must be conversant with all Company systems, policies and procedures.
The role may require the Store Person/Sales Consultant to oversee other staff to ensure inwards and outwards goods are handled effectively and to ensure deliveries are coordinated in an efficient manner. In addition the Store Person/Sales Consultant may be required to handle customer and shop stock product repairs. The role will also assist with the co-ordination of particular projects and promotions with other team members.
The Store Person/Sales Consultant will conduct themselves in a professional manner at all times to ensure that the professional image of the Company is projected at all times. Part of the Company’s professional image is to provide a Store Person/Sales Consultant with a Company uniform which is required to be worn during business hours and at all official Company functions (e.g. training sessions) and supplier events.
As a professional, the Store Person/Sales Consultant will be aware of the Company’s profit objectives. Sales targets will be set as part of the sales programme which is one of the key performance indicators of the operations programme used to monitor each stores performance.
A Store Person/Sales Consultant will also be required to complete any administrative functions related to any sale made in accordance with the Company Policy.
A Store Person/Sales Consultant may also be required to drive a Company vehicle to undertake deliveries and other Company business. All Company vehicles must be driven lawfully and in a courteous and safe manner at all times. At least a Restricted Driver’s Licence is required in order to drive company vehicles and the employee must abide by any restrictions and endorsements of their licence. In order to drive company trucks and forklifts, the appropriate licence endorsement is required.
The wellbeing, health and safety of all team members is important to the Company and as such all team members must follow the safe work practices outlined in the Company’s Health and Safety Policy.
Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities
• To provide excellent customer service to both internal and external customers
• To follow the non-negotiable service standards for Noel Leeming, including in relation to phone calls
• To display integrity in all interactions with customers and in the approach to work tasks
• To take responsibility for, and proactively resolve, customer issues and complaints as they arise
• To conduct him/herself in a professional manner at all times, recognising that this also covers the areas of personal presentation, demeanour and driving Company vehicles
• To maintain a designated area of responsibility as per the standards set down in the VM Area of Responsibilities Standards and as directed by the Store Manager
• To understand and conform to all Company policies
• To comply with the Company’s Health and Safety Policy, including immediately reporting any unsafe work conditions, equipment or practices to the Store Manager
• Ensure the delivery of safe work practices and environment for all customers and team members
• To undertake, where necessary, delivery of goods to customers, including installation and tuning in accordance with Company outlines and policies.
Store Person Accountabilities
• To ensure that all stock received is checked against the packing slips, and then entered onto the AS400 computer system on a daily basis
• To ensure that all packing slips are stamped and that freight forwarders or couriers sign the Company documentation
• To print out a register of all stocks received at the end of each day. Hand this paperwork to the Store Manager or administration staff member for reconciliation.
• To complete and process all transfer requests
• To acknowledge all inwards stock transfers once stock has been checked off against the paperwork
• To maintain the courier register on a daily basis
• To ensure that daily processing of requests for credits and supporting paperwork is completed electronically and in paper form
• To assist the Store Manager with investigation of negative stock
• To maintain the pending register on a daily basis in conjunction with administration staff
• To ensure that all security standards are met
Sales Consultant Accountabilities
• To follow up with customers to ensure ongoing customer satisfaction
• To offer the best solution to all customers, including additional products and services, e.g. warranties and delivery
• To achieve sales and profit targets for the store and Company. This will be done by setting monthly, weekly and daily sales targets, which in conjunction with the Store Manager, will be determined as part of the Company’s operational programme and form part of the overall Company’s sales objectives
• To maintain a good level of product knowledge and to attend Product Knowledge sessions from time to time
• To complete, in a timely and accurate manner, all paperwork and computer work associated with the sales process
• To follow the Company Selling Steps process for all sales
