Personal Mail and Telephone Calls

Introduction

The Company has specific policies with regard to the receiving and sending of personal mail, personal telephone calls in business hours and the safety and security of personal property on Company premises

Personal Mail

An employee’s personal mail, as distinct from business correspondence, should not be sent to the Company’s address.  If however this is unavoidable, please ensure that correspondence is marked “Private and Confidential”.  Any other form of address will mean that the letter will be opened.

Employees must affix their own postage stamp to any outgoing personal mail and must not use company stamps or prepaid envelopes for personal mail.

Personal Telephone Calls

The Company’s telephone lines are limited and busy.  Personal calls are to be kept to a minimum and kept brief.  Remember that each telephone call you make is billed to the Company so VPN numbers should be used where possible.

If personal calls have to be made, please restrict them to meal breaks.

No personal toll calls are permitted at any time unless prior approval has been obtained from the employee’s manager and the employee must pay for the cost of the toll call.  Refer to policy 14-01 for the Cellphone Policy.

Using personal mobile phones during work hours is permitted but only during your break and away from areas that may be seen or accessed by our customers.  Using personal mobile phones while on the shop floor is strictly prohibited.
