Overview

Noel Leeming Group is proud to recognise and reward our permanent team members who have achieved a long service record.

The team member receives a gift and a celebration dinner to the value of:

Please note - Long Service Awards are at the sole discretion of NLG and performance or disciplinary issues will be taken into consideration when deciding an employee's eligibility.

Claiming your Long Service Award

The gift amount may be split so that more than one item is purchased. If the team member's gift is worth more than the amount being gifted, the team member will pay the difference.

Team members are able to use their Team Members Purchasing - Team card to purchase a gift to the value of the award, taking into consideration the guidelines. Please refer to our Team Member's Purchasing - Team card policy on the NLG intranet under Benefits for more information. Both your celebration dinner and gift must be claimed within three months from your anniversary date unless prior arrangement is made with People Support. Please refer to Payment & Reimbursement for details on this.

You may not combine your celebration dinner and gift amounts to make a larger purchase - your celebration dinner is intended for a meal only. 

Type of Gift

The team member is able to choose a gift to the value of the award as above. The gift is intended to be something the team member will recognise as a Long Service Award from NLG. As such it should be something that is important to the team member. An example of an appropriate gift includes but is not limited to: jewellery, furniture, travel/accommodation etc. Alcohol and perishables are not considered to be appropriate. If you or your manager is in doubt about what is an appropriate gift, please contact Ask People Support for clarification. Your gift may not be exchanged for vouchers, e.g. Westfield Malls, petrol stations, supermarkets. 

Celebration Dinner

Celebration dinners are intended to allow you to treat yourself and your family to a meal. Your dinner must be claimed with one receipt only; multiple transactions will not be accepted. Dinner amounts may not be exchanged for vouchers. 

Payment or Reimbursement

There are two ways that your Long Service Award may be paid for:

1. All Long Service Awards used to purchase product from an NLG store must be processed by the Store Manager through the till under the Long Service Award Charge Account 7032205-01. Note the following applies:
  • There is to be one transaction/invoice per person only. If the transaction/invoice amount does not equate to the full value of the Long Service Award, the team member may not claim the balance at a future date.
  • There is no limit to the number of items per invoice, however credit and recharging of product will not be accepted
2. For all other purchases including dinners, an Expense Reimbursement form is to be completed with receipt attached. 

Purchases made on store purchase cards shall not be permitted unless authorised by the Regional Manager and People Support is notified.

Eligibility

In order to be eligible for a Long Service Award, team members need to meet the criteria for continuous service.

Continuous Service

This is where the team member has been continuously employed by NLG and has not had a break in service greater than three (3) months. 

Non-Continuous Service

This is where the team member has been employed by NLG and has had a break in service greater than three (3) months. 
  • Team members who leave the business for more than three (3) months and then return will be deemed eligible for Non-Continuous Service
  • The two (2) most recent periods of service are combined to calculate your length of service
  • The duration of the "break" in service is not included in the calculation 
With the exemption of 'Career Break' and Maternity/Paternity leave, if a team member is on unpaid leave for more than three (3) months, this will be considered as a break in service and as a result, the Non Continuous Service calculation would apply.

FAQ's

Do I need to use my Long Service award within a timeframe?
Within 3 months from your anniversary date, unless you have made prior arrangements with Ask People Support. 

How do I get my long service award?
Your Store Manager will give your award to you either on or soon after your anniversary date. 

What happens if I qualify for my Long Service Award but resign and leave the company before I receive my award?
If you haven't received your award please contact your Store Manager.

How do I get reimbursed?
Complete the Expense Claim form (attached) and also located on Tahi (Files, TWG Forms) making sure you have coded it correctly and your direct leader has signed it

Where do I send my completed Expense Reimbursement form?
 Scan the form, and your receipt(s), and email them to expenseclaims@twgroup.co.nz

When will the reimbursement go through?
You will be reimbursed in the next available pay run made by Finance.
