Nature and Scope of Role

This position is one of a number of sales roles reporting through to the Store Manager and thus forms part of the store team.
The Assistant Manager will be aware of the competitive and customer oriented nature of the work to be undertaken and will appreciate the necessity for maintaining and improving upon Noel Leeming and Noel Leeming Group Limited’s market position. The Company is committed to excellent customer service and to achieving its set sales and profit targets. The Company will support and train the Assistant Manager to be able to achieve targets. In return, the Assistant Manager must be conversant with all Company systems, policies and procedures, including statistical analysis, assisting with staff coaching and using the Company sales and training programme which encapsulates the entire operational system for the day-to-day running of the business.
The Assistant Manager will understand, and ensure their performance reflects, Noel Leeming’s core values and Mission Statement. The Assistant Manager will assist the Store Manager in ensuring that the Noel Leeming customer service core values, standards and behaviours are consistently delivered in the store for both external and internal customers.
The role is responsible for the supervision of employees as directed by and in the absence of the Store Manager, and coordination of particular projects and promotions with other team members may be required from time to time. The role also has key-holding responsibilities.
The Assistant Manager will conduct themselves in a professional manner to ensure that the professional image of the Company is projected at all times. Part of the Company’s professional image is to provide Assistant Managers with a Company uniform, which must be worn during business hours and at all official Company functions (e.g. training sessions) and supplier events.
As a professional, the Assistant Manager will be aware of the Company’s profit objectives. Sales targets will be set as part of the sales programme which is one of the key performance indicators of the operations programme used to monitor each stores performance.
An Assistant Manager will also be required to complete any administrative functions related to the sales process and day-to-day administration of the business in accordance with Company Policy.
An Assistant Manager may also be required to drive a Company vehicle to undertake deliveries and other Company business. All Company vehicles must be driven lawfully and in a courteous and safe manner at all times.  At least a Restricted Driver’s Licence is required in order to drive company vehicles and the employee must abide by any restrictions and endorsements of their licence. In order to drive company trucks and forklifts, the appropriate licence endorsement is required.
The wellbeing, health and safety of all team members is important to the Company and as such all team members must follow the safe work practices outlined in the Company’s Health and Safety Policy.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities

• To assist the Store Manager in ensuring the store team consistently delivers customer service in accordance with Noel Leeming customer service values, standards and behaviours
• To provide excellent customer service to both internal and external customers in accordance with Noel Leeming customer service standards
• To display integrity in all interactions with customers and in the approach to work tasks
• To conduct him/herself in a professional manner at all times, recognising that this also covers the areas of personal presentation, demeanour and driving Company vehicles
• To achieve sales and profit targets for the store and Company.  This will be done by setting monthly, weekly and daily sales targets, which in conjunction with the Store Manager, will be determined as part of the Company’s operational programme and form part of the overall Company’s sales objectives.
• To complete, in a timely and accurate manner, all paperwork associated with the sales process
• To undertake, where necessary, the delivery of goods to customers, including installation and tuning in accordance with Company outlines and policies
• To maintain a designated area of responsibility as per the standards set down in the Store Standards Evaluation check list and as directed by the Store Manager
• To support, as directed, the Store Manager with staff supervision responsibilities
• To assist the Store Manager with store operations as per the standards set down in the Company’s operations programme and as directed by the Group Manager
• To understand and conform to all Company policies and procedures
• To comply with the Company’s Health and Safety Policy, including immediately reporting any unsafe work conditions, equipment or practices to the Store Manager
• Ensure the delivery of safe work practices and environment for all customers and team members
• To undertake any other duties as allocated by the Store Manager from time to time
